Blog Sorted

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

I’ve been pretty busy these last few days, between booking flights, moving cars, and just getting the head down studying, and such as these things go, I haven’t been able to get the blog firing on all cylinders just yet.

I’m presently gathering updated versions of all modifications, and now the theme is in place I can now commence with the installation of any plugins - I always install & configure the theme first, incase of file edits.

I’ve dropped some of the heavier plugins, in favour for their lighter counterparts, which will hopefully lighten the server loads and make the blog load that bit faster.

As it is popular around the blogosphere, I thought it should compile a list of installed and proposed plugins:

    • StatPress
    • Reply-To
    • WP-Grins
    • Sociable
    • Askimet
    • FlickrRSS
    • cForms
    • Clean Archives
    • WP Super Cache
    • Easy Gravatars
    • Feedburner

I’ve kept them to a minimum, I don’t want the blog to be laden, heavy and feature loaded. Most of my traffic is organic, I want users to get onto it immediatly and not have to wait a long time for the blog to load. Another solution was moving to Spiral Hosting - Ireland’s fastest host (guys were a great help with any queries and problems I had).

I’ve also to transfer over the contents of my uploads folder, I never brought them over from 365’s servers. I’ll get them online ASAP. But as far as I can predict there will be no foreseeable interuptions to the blog in the coming months. I’m doing the graft now so I don’t have to do anything when I’m burying the head into the books!

      Forgotten Domains

      Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Everyone that knows me, knows how forgetful I am - it has been said that I have the memory span of a goldfish. You’re guaranteed that if you say something to me, and I don’t make note of it, I’ll forget it - most of the time non-intentionally!

Anyway, I’ve noticed that I had forgotten about 10 or so domains which I had in my possession, which I had intention of developing of using for parking or resale etc… But as the above mentions, I forgot about them until they all came up for renewal when I got an email from my registrar about their imminent expiration.

So now I’ve got a catch-22 situation - do I pick the few I like/think are worth money to renew, or do I let them expire as the chances of me remembering them again are slim? It is a dilemma, as many of them have good keywords and phrases and could potentially help to raise funds when needed.

I think it’s time to devise a list, and maybe try to find some type of online itinerary service to help me keep track of stuff, and I suppose to aid in planning ahead and to help achieve online targets. :dumb:

      Free IQ Tests

I did an online IQ test this evening and it came back with 139, bearing in mind that genius is 170, I’m proud of myself if I do say so myself - and I didn’t cheat! Of course it’s not accurate, just a bit of fun - like that Brain Train I suppose…now where did I leave it :help:

On another note, I’m apparently smarter than 72.6% of you f00ls! www.am-i-dumb.com

      Seeking Business Partnerships

      Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

tirelires-06.jpgI’ve only really been into earning money online these past few months - and mostly I’ve only been earning ’small change’ just enough to cover my expenses and perhaps buy a few luxuries on eBay. I have tried setting up large websites, but I usually cannot manage them due to either expenses or the sheer demand of them - and often I sell them off before I reach my maximum potential with the website.

Whereas, if it were a business partnership, between two or more persons, management and motivation of the website would be increased - I know this through existing websites I’ve partnerships in, you’re more motivated to keep on progressing with the website, as you don’t want to let your partnership down from your side of the dealings.

Another advantage of business partnerships would be reduced cost to individual, and more of a likelyhood for the website to succeed. Two minds are greater than one, I have a number of good ideas and resources, and I’m sure other people do too. If ideas and resources were compiled, there is more chance of greater profit, although it would be reduced in a partnership compared to a sole webmaster - still you’d have a greater chance of earning revenue in the first place if there was a team/group effort.

Hence why I’m stating my case for forming partnerships with budding ‘internet entrepreneurs‘ like myself, come the new year. I want 2008 to start off my serious money making ideas. If anyone is interested in my proposal, you can contact me, or add me to MSN: donohoe14 (at) oceanfree (dot) net.

      Guide to becoming a Priest!

      Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Ever fancied becoming a priest? Not in the usual sense though! There are many services online, that allow you to become an ordained minister online - allowing you to proform weddings, baptisms, etc… Although, I don’t think you could walk into your local church and proform a Sunday mass!

Some people may see this as disrespect for the Catholic church, but I don’t see why - this online service, simply allows you to proform a wedding service for a friend or relative, should they want a more unusual wedding ceremony!

Some of the websites which you can become ordained online:

Although, I’m not entirely sure if becoming ordained online, is valid in Ireland or any other European countries. So, I suggest that you check it out before you go proforming a friends wedding!
